La iniciativa de contar nuestras experiencias durante el paso por las aulas del Colegio MejÃa nace durante la ceremonia simbólica de incorporación de agosto del 2015 después de 32 años de haber egresado de esta noble institución del saber y la democracia. Ese año fue 1983.Se recopilaron datos históricos y los ingredientes fundamentales de alumnos y maestros durante 6 años para que este proyecto pase a la posteridad en un libro de las memorias de nuestras vivencias en el MejÃa.
La portada fue diseñada por el autor, las fotos de mi archivo personal, otras proporcionadas por los compañeros, asà como de diferentes fuentes citadas en el texto.Las anécdotas nos han transportado a través del tiempo por diferentes épocas desde la Edad Antigua hasta la Edad Contemporánea, se mencionan obras maestras de la Literatura Universal como La Divina Comedia y El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de la Mancha. Hechos históricos trascendentales como la Revolución francesa que encendió la mecha para los movimientos independentistas de América, la revolución liberal de 1895, la guerra civil española, guerra del 41, guerra del Cenepa, y por ende los personajes históricos como Sófocles, Napoleón Bonaparte, José MejÃa Lequerica, Eloy Alfaro, Isidro Ayora, José MarÃa Velasco Ibarra, Galo Plaza Lasso, LenÃn Moreno y otros entes importantes mencionados por los compañeros y como parte de la investigación y recopilación de datos para la publicación de este libro El objetivo primordial de esta publicación es promocionar la amistad y compartir las experiencias de sus personajes a lo largo de sus trayectorias durante la vida estudiantil y posterior al colegio que los formó para ser unos profesionales y proyectar esas vivencias a las futuras generaciones. Espero que el encuentro en el colegio no sea el último y mantengamos ese contacto siempre.Ahora quiero expresar mi más sincero agradecimiento a todos los compañeros, profesores de aquella época y familiares quienes colaboraron con sus relatos para que esta publicación se haga realidad.Espero que sea de su agrado y al leer las anécdotas se remonten a esos tiempos que jamás se olvidan y más que nada la gran amistad que hemos forjado a través del tiempo y nos encontremos nuevamente con nuestras familias en un futuro cercano.Estuvimos en la mejor versión del Patrón MejÃa, pero éramos campeones en todo, o casi todo. La selección de básquet campeona todos los años que fui estudiante, fútbol, atletismo, el grupo folklórico, la banda de guerra, en fin, tantas cosas más. Juan Carlos Gachet.
