Bram Stoker spent the first seven years of his life confined to his home because of illness. His only entertainment was the dark Irish legends his mother told him. It would not be surprising if these chronicles woven with supernatural elements generated the breeding ground that led Stoker to become one of the greatest authors of Gothic horror. For a long time, Dracula's Guest was considered a first chapter removed from Dracula, Stoker's capital work, although the study of the author's notes from the seventies discarded this idea and gave rise to other theories.
