ENGLISH DESCRIPTION Formentor Prize 2021 In this fable of sorts, the author reflects on the mechanics of desire and the whims and tricks of fate. We are also told of the need to create in a totalitarian state, of those artists who, although discouraged, keep their creative spirits aflame. In March of any given year, the Argentine magician Hans Chans attends an illusionist convention in Panama. But Hans is a real magician, who can twist the laws of the physical world and play with reality at will. Throughout his life, he has worked hard to hide this gift, and has passed for being a mediocre illusionist, unable to use his gifts for his own benefit. However, he is now willing to show who he really is. Determined to display his talents before his colleagues, Hans Chans is unaware that this time his magic will radically change his and others' destiny.
