La revolución dreyfusiana, publicada originalmente en 1909, cuya autoría corresponde al conocido filósofo francés Georges Sorel (1847-1922), nos describe uno de los hechos más peculiares y trascendentales de la III República francesa, y lo hace desde su perspectiva de marxista heterodoxo, en relación a las vicisitudes y contrastes generados entre los medios de comunicación y la burguesía de la época.
El caso Dreyfus conmocionó a la Francia a caballo de dos siglos, generando una profunda división en el seno de la sociedad francesa, en la que políticos e intelectuales tomaron partido a favor y en contra de Alfred Dreyfus, acusado de alta traición y espionaje bajo la sombra de un error judicial y un pretendido antisemitismo fue finalmente rehabilitado en 1906 en medio de las tensiones entre republicanos, realistas, clericales y anticlericales.
Georges Sorel, que tomó partido por el oficial Dreyfus, calificó estos hechos de revolucionarios (la revolución dreyfusiana) al considerar que precipitaron un cambio político en la cima del Estado al conseguir la victoria de la clase media bajo la bandera dreyfusarda contra la burguesía y la afirmación de los derechos de los trabajadores desde un socialismo ético. Posteriormente se arrepentiría repudiando su participación en la campaña de liberación del oficial Dreyfus y al gobierno de orientación dreyfusarda.
Incluimos en el apéndice una selección de la correspondencia de Georges Sorel con Eduard Bernstein y Édouard Berth que sirven para complementar y contextualizar los posicionamientos del autor respecto al Caso Dreyfus y sus consecuencias.
