El tÃtulo de ''Rey del Mundo'', tomado en su acepción más elevada, la más completa y al mismo tiempo la más rigurosa, se aplica propiamente a Manu, el Legislador primordial y universal, cuyo nombre se encuentra, bajo formas diversas, en un gran número de pueblos antiguos; a este respecto, recordaremos solo el Mina o Ménès de los egipcios, el Menw de los celtas y el Minos de los griegos. Por lo demás, este nombre no designa de ningún modo a un personaje histórico o más o menos legendario; lo que designa en realidad, es un principio, la Inteligencia cósmica que refleja la Luz espiritual pura y formula la Ley (Dharma) propia a las condiciones de nuestro mundo o de nuestro ciclo de existencia; y es al mismo tiempo el arquetipo del hombre considerado especialmente en tanto que ser pensante (en sánscrito mânava).
Por otra parte, lo que importa esencialmente destacar aquÃ, es que este principio puede ser manifestado por un centro espiritual establecido en el mundo terrestre, por una organización encargada de conservar integralmente el depósito de la tradición sagrada, de origen ''no-humano'' (apaurushêya), por la que la SabidurÃa primordial se comunica a través de las edades a aquellos que son capaces de recibirla. El jefe de una tal organización, que representa en cierto modo a Manu mismo, podrá legÃtimamente llevar su tÃtulo y sus atributos; e incluso, por el grado de conocimiento que debe haber alcanzado para poder ejercer su función, se identifica realmente al principio del que es como la expresión humana, y ante el cual su individualidad desaparece.
