The majority of private investors who try financially leveraged products lose money. This was also the experience of the author over many years. Financially leveraged products include spread betting, and options trading. Moreover, the author's recent experience suggests that anyone who puts in the time and effort can succeed and make a profit. There is no doubt that successful spread betting is difficult. The first step is to break even and this book is a short summary of the author's conclusions and personal experience of how to do just that over the first 6 months of trading.
The book explains how to get started by learning the trading methods and how to run your account, as well as suggesting some investment strategies. The material goes on to describe methods that can be used to increase your chance of success for each trade. The book also goes into the details of actual trades made by the author to provide insight into the learning process from which a short step towards profits from spread betting is possible.
The author, John austin, is a former research scientist in climate change and ozone depletion. He now operates an internet publishing business EnigmaScientific.com. Over the years John has traded on and off in the stock market using leveraged and non-leveraged products. He has finally been able to explore the use of scientific methods for financial gain and this brief book is a summary of his efforts to date.
