The Squirrel Hunters of Ohio: Or Glimpses of Pioneer Life is a historical book written by Nelson Edwards Jones and originally published in 1897. The book provides a detailed account of the early settlement of Ohio and the lives of its pioneers in the 18th and 19th centuries. The book focuses on the experiences of a group of men known as the Squirrel Hunters, who were instrumental in defending the state during the War of 1812. Jones provides a vivid description of their lives, including their hunting and trapping expeditions, their encounters with Native Americans, and their experiences during the war.In addition to its historical content, the book also provides a fascinating glimpse into the daily lives of early Ohio settlers. Jones describes their homes, their clothing, their food, and their customs, as well as the challenges they faced in building a new life in a rugged and often hostile environment.Overall, The Squirrel Hunters of Ohio: Or Glimpses of Pioneer Life is an engaging and informative read for anyone interested in the history of Ohio and the early American frontier. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
