Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town is a collection of short stories written by Canadian author Stephen Leacock. The book was first published in 1912 and is set in the fictional town of Mariposa, which is based on the real town of Orillia, Ontario. The stories are humorous and satirical, poking fun at small-town life and the eccentric characters that inhabit it. The book is divided into a series of sketches, each focusing on a different resident of Mariposa. The characters include the town's mayor, the local doctor, the bank manager, and the owner of the local hotel. The stories are told from the perspective of a narrator who is both amused and bemused by the quirks and foibles of the town's inhabitants. Despite the humor, however, the book also offers a poignant look at the struggles and challenges of life in a small town. Overall, Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town is a charming and entertaining read that offers a unique glimpse into a bygone era.In the city, people never read the newspapers, not really, only little bits and scraps of them. But in Mariposa it's different. There they read the whole thing from cover to cover, and they build up on it, in the course of years, a range of acquirement that would put a college president to the blush. Anybody who has ever heard Henry Mullins and Peter Glover talk about the future of China will know just what I mean. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
