No one knows who created the artificial world Ceres and threw it into the orbit of Jupiter. No one knows why it was populated with prehistoric monsters. When a riot slaughters all the warders a new order is brought to the prison by a man named Dexter Valentine. As the years pass it becomes increasingly clear the government isn't coming to investigate the loss of its prison. This leaves the former inmates to contend with mastery over their new lives, trapped in a swamp on a dinosaur world which shall forevermore be their prison. This is a collection of 15 stories, including a novella about Dexter Valentine himself, exploring the various inhabitants of the former prison and how they survive the day-to-day life within a prison they can never truly escape.
