The central theme addressed in this book is the conservation of water resources in the Campelo System, whose drainage basin features a landscape marked by lagoons, marshes, and artificial canals. Therefore, the objective of this study was to understand the processes involved in the variation of the water surface areas of the lagoons, correlating them with atmospheric precipitation. Using the Environmental Analysis method, it was possible to observe the interrelationships between these water bodies in the system. The results obtained showed that the areas surrounding the lagoons are occupied by agriculture, pasture, and urban areas. When the variation in their water surfaces was inferred, it was observed that in most cases their behavior was irregular for the periods analyzed and that when establishing the correlation between the area of the lagoons and their respective water surfaces, it was found that the lagoons are disappearing from the regional landscape.
