This book explores gully erosion disaster as a global phenomenon, highlighting its conceptual and practical significance within the ecosystem. It explains gully erosion formation in the context of balance of nature, ecological balance, the hydrological cycle and the Systems Theory. From a bird's eye view, this book examined the prevalence of gully erosion across the globe, their underlying causes, the impact of gullies on affected communities and territories, as well as conventional and specialized methods of gully prevention and control. More precisely, the book focused on Anambra State in South-East Nigeria as a case study, evaluating issues and factors that had given the territory the notorious label of gully erosion capital of Africa. Applying advanced analysis, the book diagnosed the menace of gully erosion in Anambra State and made trail blazing findings. Consequently, it recommended innovative solutions that will de-escalate and reverse gullying in the territory on a sustainable basis including a four-tier universal gully classification scheme that tallies with levels of stakeholders' responsibilities that will stimulate proactive preparedness and response among diverse stakeholders. These solutions are also applicable to other resource-limited settings.
