If asked, most people will respond that their favorite passage in the Bible is the 23rd Psalm. For many of us, it was the first Bible Passage we were taught as a child. In our heads we carry the image of the Good Shepherd from paintings that might have hung in the church or in our homes. We thought of this image as we proudly recited the six verses.

When we were children, no one ever took the time to explain the meaning of the verses. Now, as adults, we are so accustomed to the singsong of memorization that we never stop to consider the true meaning. Most of us will glaze over the chapter when we come across it in our Bible study.
When God placed the 23rd Psalm in the Bible, it was because He wanted us to understand the relationship, which He offers us. We were created for this relationship. In this in-depth study, we will slow down, let go of preconceived ideas, and study the words of the 23rd Psalm with fresh eyes.
