Trail of a Yankee

From the diaries of a young private in the Union Army during the Civil War, Samuel Jones Melvin tells of his service to the country. Drafted in October of 1862, Samuel served with the 100th Pennsylvania Volunteers, known as the Roundhead regiment. Samuel suffered health issues, was involved in the Battle of the Wilderness, and writes of Lincoln's assassination and Lee's surrender.
