I've always been fascinated by these 100+ year old Turkish Fairy Tales (Török Népmések) that are said to have come directly from the mouths of Turkish peasants in the 1800's.
After I started reading this, I searched for a more easier to read, up to date version of this, but there was none to be found. Some of the primitive Middle East jargon and archaic English terminology used in this book made it hard to appreciate all of the stories. After much research, I was equipped to edit and revise some of the verbiage into American English for clarity. For example: Padishah to Chief Ruler, narghilies to hookahs, Jinn to Genie, Peris to Angels, as well as a few other terms that are not commonly used in the Western World. I also revised some of the 1800's Old Style English vernacular but kept just enough in the right places to preserve the Shakespearean style magic in these Turkish & Romanian Fairy Tales. Enjoy!
