Twice Taken is a novel written by Charles Winslow Hall and published in 1867. The story follows the life of a young woman named Edith, who is kidnapped twice in her life. The first time, she is taken by a group of Native Americans and held captive for several years. During this time, she becomes fluent in their language and customs, and even falls in love with one of her captors. However, she is eventually rescued and returned to her family.Years later, Edith is once again taken, this time by a group of bandits who are after her family's wealth. She is held captive for a shorter period of time, but during this time she must use her wit and resourcefulness to escape and save herself and her family.Throughout the novel, Edith faces many challenges and obstacles, but she remains strong and determined. The story also explores themes of identity, cultural differences, and the resilience of the human spirit. Overall, Twice Taken is a gripping tale of survival and perseverance in the face of adversity. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
