Standing metaphorically upon his mountain, the Poetry King calls upon all Nine Muses, echoing the ancient invocations of epic poetry. Opposing him is Avery Peerson-Every Person-the modern voice that sees little value in difficult language, art, or poetry.
But beneath the wordplay, mythology, romance, and Shakespearean echoes lies a darker question:
What happens to humanity when we begin forgetting the things that once made us human?
At the center of the book is its only footnote: Alan Kurdi, 2012-2015, the three-year-old boy whose body washed ashore during the Syrian refugee crisis. He becomes a haunting symbol of memory itself-of the people, stories, and truths the world briefly mourns and then allows to disappear.
Across five acts, the King who sets out to defend poetry is himself transformed by love, heartbreak, and the Muse. Ancient epic, Shakespearean drama, mythology, romantic verse, and modern language collide in a work deliberately unlike a conventional poetry collection.

Because poems may end.
