This book offers a structural reinterpretation of the American Revolution and the early Republic as the formative phase of U.S. hegemony.
Rather than treating independence as a purely political or ideological break, it analyzes how economic transformation, class alliances, and institutional innovation laid the foundations of American power.
Covering the period from the imperial crisis of the 1760s through the consolidation of the federal state in the 1790s, the book traces how land policy, finance, trade, labor systems, and military organization reshaped colonial society and produced a new hegemonic order. The Revolution is examined not only as a struggle against Britain, but as a process of internal restructuring that stabilized elite power while expanding popular consent.
Using a historical-sociological framework, the book highlights the role of state formation, territorial expansion and ideological production in transforming a group of colonies into a cohesive power capable of sustained internal hegemony and imperial expansion. Special attention is given to class alliances and the emergence of federal institutions as mechanisms of long-term stabilization of hegemony.
