The Vicomte De Bragelonne is a historical novel written by Alexandre Dumas. It is the third and final book in the Musketeers series, preceded by The Three Musketeers and Twenty Years After. The novel is set in the 1660s during the reign of Louis XIV and follows the adventures of the musketeers - Athos, Porthos, and Aramis - and their protg, the vicomte de Bragelonne. The story begins with the young vicomte de Bragelonne being summoned to court by the king, who has taken an interest in him. Bragelonne is soon caught up in the political intrigue and power struggles at court, as various factions vie for control and influence. Meanwhile, the musketeers find themselves embroiled in a plot to overthrow the king, led by the mysterious and elusive figure of the Man in the Iron Mask.As the plot thickens, Bragelonne falls in love with Louise de la Vallire, a lady-in-waiting to the queen, but their romance is threatened by the machinations of the court and the jealousy of the king. The musketeers, meanwhile, face danger and betrayal as they try to unravel the mystery of the Man in the Iron Mask and prevent the overthrow of the monarchy. The Vicomte De Bragelonne is a thrilling tale of adventure, romance, and political intrigue, set against the backdrop of one of the most fascinating periods in French history. Dumas' vivid characters and fast-paced plot make for a gripping read that will keep readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
