Pistoia, come ogni città più vecchia che antica, ha tante piccole strde, tanti vicoli, tante piazze e piccole piazze ed ognuna di esse ha un nome.
Ma la toponomastica di questa città toscana è sicuramente originale e qualche volta mi sento autorizzato a definirla bizzarra.
Per molti questo è scontato ma io sono curioso e sempre mi sono chiesto quale sia l'origine di questi nomi, da sempre ho pensato che dietro ogni nome ci sia una storia con radici in un passato più o meno remoto.
Spesso ho pensato, lasciando libera la fantasia, che questa città possa raccontare una parte della propria storia sia attraverso la struttura delle sue vie e delle sue piazze che ne definiscono l'aspetto ma anche interpretando la toponomastica stratificata nei secoli.
A Pistoia molte sono le vie e le piazze con una particolare toponomastica, sempre ho pensato che valesse la pena di approfondire il tema cercando di soddisfare la curiosità che sorge spontanea sul perché di certi nomi.
Questo lavoro guarda alle strade ed alle piazze del centro storico di Pistoia con lo spirito del viaggiatore che mentre cammina indaga sul viaggio. È il viaggio che sempre porta a chi sa coglierle conoscenze inaspettate, curiosità soddisfatte, piccoli misteri risolti.
Le strade del centro storico di Pistoia sono oltre 250, per mia curiosità le ho censite, quasi sempre le ho fotografate, ed ove possibile ho cercato l'origine del loro nome.
È un lavoro che non pretende di essere completo, sicuramente presenta molte inesattezze, ma è fatto con tanto amore per questa piccola ed interessantissima città , la mia città .
