Weir of Hermiston is a collection of three stories written by Robert Louis Stevenson and published posthumously in 1896. The first story, The Misadventures of John Nicholson, follows a young man who becomes obsessed with the idea of being a gentleman and sets out to achieve this by any means necessary, leading to a series of misadventures. The second story, The Story of a Lie, tells the tale of a man who tells a small lie that spirals out of control, ultimately leading to his downfall. The final story, The Body Snatcher, is a chilling tale of grave-robbing and murder set in 19th-century Scotland. Weir of Hermiston is considered one of Stevenson's most mature and complex works, and is often cited as a masterpiece of Scottish literature. Unfortunately, Stevenson died before he could complete the novel, leaving it unfinished and ending on a cliffhanger. Despite this, Weir of Hermiston remains a fascinating and engrossing read, showcasing Stevenson's mastery of character and setting. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
