The DRC is rich in priceless natural resources and considerable human potential. Yet the country remains locked in a trajectory of persistent underdevelopment, marked by mass poverty, weak industrialization and economic dependence. This book analyzes the structural obstacles to the DRC's economic and social transformation, highlighting: the central role of the comprador bourgeoisie and predatory political elites; the fragmentation and casualization of the working class; the responsibility of intellectual, moral and social elites in legitimizing or criticizing the system.
