Where Angels Fear To Tread is a novel written by E.M. Forster, first published in 1905. The story revolves around a young English widow named Lilia Herriton, who travels to Italy with her companion Caroline Abbott. Lilia falls in love with an Italian man named Gino Carella, and they get married against the wishes of her family. After Lilia dies while giving birth to her child, her family sends her brother-in-law, Philip Herriton, to retrieve the baby and bring it back to England. However, when Philip arrives in Italy, he discovers that the baby has been taken in by Gino and his family. Philip is determined to bring the baby back to England, but he is met with resistance from Gino and his family. As the tensions between the two families escalate, the characters are forced to confront their own prejudices and cultural differences. The novel explores themes of love, family, cultural differences, and the clash between tradition and modernity. It is a poignant and insightful work that showcases Forster's skill as a writer and his ability to capture the nuances of human relationships. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
