The wird of the Tariqa Jamaaliyya is a comprehensive program of dhikr (remembrance of God), Qur'anic recitation, supplication, and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, designed to cultivate inner purification, spiritual intimacy (uns), and direct awareness of Divine Beauty (jamāl). It reflects the Jamaaliyya path's emphasis on mercy, balance, and the unveiling of the heart through love rather than austerity.
The wird is traditionally divided into two complementary parts:
1. The Minor Wird (Wird aṣ-Ṣaghīr)
This portion establishes daily spiritual grounding. It includes seeking refuge in Allah, recitation of Sūrat al-Fātiḥah, verses encouraging repentance and hope in Divine mercy, and repeated istighfār (seeking forgiveness). Read twice daily-after Fajr and after Maghrib-it serves to cleanse the heart, stabilize remembrance, and prepare the seeker for deeper states of presence.
2. The Major Wird (Wird al-Kabīr)
The major wird is an expansive litany that combines Qur'anic chapters (such as Sūrat Yā-Sīn), Divine Names, formulas of tawḥīd, and extensive ṣalawāt upon the Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ. Its language is rich with spiritual symbolism, invoking themes of annihilation (fanāʾ), subsistence (baqāʾ), unveiling (kashf), and the Muhammadan Reality as the mirror of Divine Beauty and Majesty. Through sustained repetition, the practitioner seeks the dissolution of egoic veils, the illumination of the heart, and alignment with the Divine order permeating creation.
Overall, the Jamaaliyya wird is not merely a set of recitations but a transformative spiritual journey. It aims to turn remembrance into witnessing, worship into intimacy, and the seeker into a living mirror of compassion, balance, and Divine presence-embodying beauty inwardly and outwardly in daily life.
