As a British national living in Germany, Fadi did not find it easy to adapt to the German way of life at first. All of a sudden if I was frustrated with something, instead of venting it at other people, I wrote it down on a piece of paper - it was like meditating. It turned out that Fadi was very frustrated indeed - 300 pages of it. His style pays homage to Bill Bryson; written with a light anecdotal tone, often mixed in with a dollop of self-mockery, giving a vivid account of German society as a whole.
