Dr. Marianne Kobiak is a genius by any standards. Once widely renowned in the field of biomedical chemistry and drug development, she now spends her days in a dilapidated laboratory, desperately trying to undo the colossal mistake she made. The drug she developed was supposed to make people live forever. At least, it gave people that option. While taking the drug, the aging process essentially slows to a near negligible rate, leaving the person taking it frozen at their current biological age. Stopping the drug starts the aging process again, giving people the option of extending their lives at their own pace and to whatever extent they choose. It worked like a dream at first. But she realized too late that her miracle drug had a terrible side effect, one that would affect approximately half of the people who took it. She's now racing to find a cure and save the world. Meanwhile, everyone else is just trying to survive.
