Evangelism, essential to the life of the Christian church, is a call to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the world. According to the New Testament, in Matthew 28:19-20, Jesus Himself establishes this call with His words: Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. Evangelism, however, goes beyond the mere proclamation of words; it is about living and sharing the love of Christ in action and truth. In 1 Corinthians 13:1, Paul points out that if I speak with the tongues of men and angels, but have no love, I am like a sounding brass or a tinkling cymbal. This perspective highlights the importance of a loving and genuine approach in evangelism.
The role of the evangelist is crucial. It is not just about being an eloquent speaker, it is about being a living witness to God's grace and love. In 2 Timothy 4:5, Paul counsels Timothy: But you, be sober in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
