This book, which we have structured into 38 chapters, will guide us through a richer and fuller knowledge of our Heavenly Father, unraveling the meanings and implications of each of his names.
We begin with Abba, a term of affection and trust that means Father. This name brings us into the intimacy of a filial relationship, where we can approach God with the same trust that a son has toward his father. In Adonai, we acknowledge God's sovereignty and lordship, reminding us that He is our master and we are His servants, called to loving and reverent obedience. With El-Shaddai, the Almighty God, we immerse ourselves in divine omnipotence, trusting that His power is sufficient to sustain us in all our needs.
Elohim, the Creator God, invites us to contemplate the majesty of creation and to worship the One who made the heavens and the earth. El Elyon, the Most High God, elevates our perspective to the heavenly throne, reminding us that God is above all things. In Jehovah-Jireh, we find the Lord Who Will Provide, a name that assures us that God is our faithful provider in every circumstance.
Jehovah-Rafa, the Lord Who Heals, comforts us with the assurance that God is our healer, able to restore our body, mind, and spirit. Jehovah-Nissi, the Lord is my Standard, reminds us that God is our standard in battle, the symbol of our victory and protection. Jehovah-Shalom, the Lord is Peace, offers us a haven of peace in the midst of life's storms.
Jehovah-Ra'ah, the Lord is my Shepherd, leads us in paths of righteousness, assuring us that under His care we will lack nothing. Jehovah-Tsidkenu, the Lord is Our Righteousness, gives us assurance that in Christ we are made righteous before God. Jehovah-Mekaddesh, the Lord who sanctifies, calls us to a life of holiness, reminding us that we are set apart for His glory.
Jehovah-Sabaot, the Lord of Hosts, fills us with confidence in God's protection and defense, knowing that the Lord of heavenly armies is on our side. Jehovah-Shammah, the Lord Is There, assures us of God's constant presence in our lives, no matter where we are. El-Olam, the Eternal God, comforts us with the eternity of God, whose love and purpose have no end.
El-Roi, the God who sees me, fills us with comfort in knowing that God is attentive to every detail of our lives. In Adonai and El-Shaddai, we again explore the greatness and power of God, reaffirming his sovereignty and omnipotence.
