In the first place, Emily Jane White is a memory of two things; one being an iconic song of hers which alternative radio stations would tend to play quite frequently, and the other being an acquaintance's recommendation that I go see one of her shows in France, which she has many affiliations with. Quite a while later, I would get the opportunity to do so. And I do remember that it wasn't really a good day, but her performance saved the evening for me. I was really absorbed by the intensity of Emily Jane White's art, craft, and skills as a songwriter. Then, a couple of years later, I seize the occasion of the release of a recent album of hers to reach out and see if she would like to do an online interview allowing us to communicate from two different parts of the world.
