本书糅合东方天人合一之思想与西方逻辑思辨之方法于一体，提出和论证了递弱代偿法则及其系统现象形态：

二、精神增益是载体趋弱的反比变量，信息扩张是物演分化的边际效应，知识拓展是背离本真的天然尺度。
三、社会结构是自然实体结构的一脉延伸，文明现象是生物智质代偿的后续恶果，历史进步是人类自取祸殃的必由之路。
上述观点，无不与当前全人类的各种主流意识形态相左，也无不与当前全世界高度文明发展所致的危机形势（诸如环境污染、资源耗竭、生态破坏、气候异常、大规模毁灭性武器泛滥以及恐怖主义争端激化等诡异现实）丝丝相扣。读罢此作，不能不令人掩卷长思。
故，可视其为人文存亡之道的基础理论。
王东岳，旧日笔名子非鱼，自由学者，独立于任何党派和学术机构之外。曾为医学硕士，但研究生毕业后即脱离医界；也曾做过西北大学哲学系客座教授以及西安交大管理学院的东方文化客座教授，聊以谋生。迄有著作三卷两册：三卷《物演通论》合为一部；一册随笔集《知鱼之乐》；一册汇编本《人类的没落》。另有一函《哲思讲演录》，似乎不值一哂。此外别无可记。 关于《物演通论》，作者修订已廿载有余。全书论证了一个哲学原理，引申出若干异端观点，应对于如下现实问题：人类生存或人文现象的自然根据是什么？文明进步及其社会发展为何必然趋向于岌岌危势？而精神属性与知识系统何以终究是于事无补的、甚至不免呈现出负面效应？总之，它用深邃的终极探询方式，为傲慢的人类敲响了警钟，给光明的前途覆盖以阴霾。 再，本书的哲论笔墨嶙峋奇崛，自成一系，也颇可玩味。
