哲学与宗教，是一面之隔。大概说来，哲学接近宗教的教义，而宗教普通需要加上神灵信仰和宗教仪式，且是以实践为主的。
我个人深通中国哲学，对于儒家（着有中国的儒家）、道家（着有中国的道家）、佛家（本册书中我会提出自己对佛学的相关著作）思想都有相当的理解。
中国人讲哲学、讲宗教，喜欢谈一个「道」字。所以孔子有孔子的「道」，老子有老子的「道」。佛家不用「道」字，但是用了一个「法」字，其实与「道」的用意没有两样。
孔子曾说，「道不同，不相为谋」。可见各家对「道」的认识，是不太一致的。但是，「道」作为宇宙的起源、作为宇宙背后的实在，各家的看法大概相同。这一个起源、这一个实在，应该是独一的，这就见证了一神论的正确。
可惜，许多人宁愿相信这「道」是一个理、是一个纯善，甚至相信这「道」是一个所谓的自然，是一个无所不在的万有总和，却不愿意相信「道」就是 神。我要请读者注意，本书中《奇妙的道》那一部份，主轴乃是「道就是 神」，你能进入这一认识，那你对真理就是豁然开通了。
本册书要谈到中国的宗教，自然是以儒、释（佛）、道三教为主要的讨论目标。另外还有回教和最后传进来的基督教。
因为基督教是「启示的宗教」，是从宇宙主宰、至高者 神的观点看问题，立足最高，所以最先讨论。其次是回教，与基督教相关性很高，所以放在其次。再后就是我国本土的宗教，儒教和道教。最后讨论佛教和民间信仰。
佛教是一个很重要的宗教，但是因为前述的考虑，所以放在较后。这不是表示它不重要，反而，「好戏在后头」，我们并不忽略它的重要性。
本书主要的资料，是我个人的著作。也有一些是从网上抓来的数据、和本师的作品，加以剪裁、加以编辑。主要是弥补数据、见闻的不足，希望能让读者多有一些参考的空间。
