何謂道？道者，首也，路也，路之起頭也，萬有之根源也，道理也，邏輯也，話也，言說也，絕對之道德標準也，至善也......
吾國思想，以儒、釋、道三家為主流。道與儒固無論矣，即釋家所云佛性、真如，亦何莫而非道也。孔子曰，道不同，不相為謀。則異道之間，不能相授受，自古而然，不足異也。
愚治中國學術，始自儒家，攻學碩士階段，乃入道家。其後數十年，教學之中，蓋用力與此，既深且博。而老莊學會會長楊汝舟博士，啟發獨多，深為感謝。
今將既往有關中國的道家著作，匯集成書。以字數限制，分成兩冊。
上冊以先秦道家思想研究起首，蓋愚之碩士論文也。溯道家之起源，開後來之枝葉。
以後談道德經神秘主義，乃西方學者牽老子於基督信仰之一見，可供參考。
後接莊子篇目考，乃於莊子作精密之考證，於不疑之處生疑，細密精微，而亦不妨義理之探究。
下冊以老子王弼學起首，則對道家創始之始祖，其思想，作深入而徹底之抉發，謂之老子大全，亦不為過。
再後是道家之養生術，蓋自老子，流變至後世道家，斯學亦道家學術之一個特色也。
吾國文化，儒、釋、道三家，各有所長、亦各有千秋，前賢智慧，燭照光明；後學弟子，宜如何珍而勿忘，發揚蹈厲，以興我華夏之輝光，願與讀者相互期勉之！
