Het Tavistock Institute for Human Relations heeft een diepgaand effect gehad op het morele, spirituele, culturele, politieke en economische beleid van de Verenigde Staten van Amerika en Groot-Brittannië. Het stond vooraan bij de aanval op de Amerikaanse grondwet. Geen enkele groep produceerde meer propaganda om de Verenigde Staten aan te moedigen om deel te nemen aan de Eerste Wereldoorlog op een moment dat de meerderheid van het Amerikaanse volk daar tegen was.
Dezelfde tactieken werden door de sociale wetenschappers van Tavistock gebruikt om de VS in de Tweede Wereldoorlog, Korea, Vietnam, Servië en de twee oorlogen tegen Irak te krijgen. Tavistock begon als een organisatie voor het maken en verspreiden van propaganda in Wellington House, Londen, in de aanloop naar de Eerste Wereldoorlog, wat Toynbee dat zwarte gat van desinformatie noemde. Bij een andere gelegenheid beschreef Toynbee Wellington House als een fabriek van leugens. Vanuit een ietwat rudimentair begin groeide Wellington House uit tot het Tavistock Instituut en gaf het op zeer controversiële wijze vorm aan het lot van Duitsland, Rusland, Groot-Brittannië en de Verenigde Staten. De mensen in deze landen waren zich er niet van bewust dat ze werden gehersenspoeld. De oorsprong van 'mind control', 'innerlijke sturende conditionering' en massaal 'hersenspoelen' wordt uitgelegd in een gemakkelijk te begrijpen boek dat met grote autoriteit is geschreven.
De val van de katholieke dynastieën, de bolsjewistische revolutie, de Eerste en Tweede Wereldoorlog die de vernietiging betekenden van oude allianties en grenzen, de omwentelingen in de religie, het verval van de moraal, de vernietiging van het gezinsleven, de ineenstorting van de economische en politieke processen, de decadentie in muziek en kunst kunnen allemaal worden toegeschreven aan de massa-indoctrinatie (massahersenspoeling) door de sociale wetenschappers van het Tavistock Instituut. Onder de leden van de Tavistock faculteit bevond zich Edward Bernays, de neef van Sigmund Freud. Er wordt gezegd dat Herr Goebbels, minister van Propaganda van het Duitse Derde Rijk, gebruik maakte van de methoden van Bernays en van Willy Munzenberg, wiens buitengewone carrière wordt beschreven in dit boek over het verleden, het heden en de toekomst. Zonder Tavistock waren er geen Eerste en Tweede Wereldoorlog geweest, geen Bolsjewistische revolutie, geen oorlogen in Korea, Vietnam, Servië en Irak. Zonder Tavistock zouden de Verenigde Staten niet op weg zijn naar ontbinding en ineenstorting.
