Faced with the complex environmental challenges facing society, the promotion of care for different forms of life, respect for people and societies, and the development of environmental citizenship have become important themes in the pedagogical proposals of the National Curriculum Guidelines related to Environmental Education. According to the National Curriculum Parameters (PCNs), formal Environmental Education should be present at all levels of education and in an interdisciplinary way. However, in some schools Environmental Education is not even addressed, and there is little information regarding those located in rural areas. In view of this, the aim of this research was to investigate the pedagogical practices geared towards Environmental Education that have been developed in a rural school in the municipality of Arapiraca-AL.
