Das Buch zeigt, dass Irlmaier kein Kalenderprophet war, sondern mit Zuständen, Zeitmarkern und Bildern arbeitete: Hochsommer statt Jahreszahl, Mondlängen statt Wochen, Reife statt Datum. Aus diesen Markern lässt sich kein Schicksal ableiten - aber ein Zeitfenster.
Ein besonderes Augenmerk liegt auf der berühmten Aussage von den zwei Achtern und einem Neuner sowie auf der zeitlichen Abfolge von Eskalation, Wendepunkt und abruptem Ende.
