For thousands of years, humanity saw marriage only as a social or family arrangement. Nevertheless, the Apostle Paul called this union of man and his wife the Great mystery, (Eph.5:31,32), that points to Christ and the Church: meaning that marriage is a rehearsal of eternity, a shadow of the union between the heavenly Bridegroom and His Bride, the projected union of God and His people. And all that was revealed in Jewish customs for marriage as they were in the time of Jesus
The Ancient Jewish marriage customs were more than cultural traditions; they were prophetic shadows of the things to come (Colossians 2:17). The purpose of this book is to show you how Every step of these customs- the separation, the betrothal, the preparation, the procession, the union, and the feast - pointed beyond themselves to the eternal marriage between Christ and His Church. For indeed, these customs revealed that at an appointed time: Christ the Bridegroom will leave His Father to seek out His Bride on earth, Which he did. And when He finds her, He will pay the price of her betrothal, Which He did by the blood of His death on the cross. And then seal the union of that marriage by a covenant sealed in His own blood so that the two may become one in spirit, Which he did. And then return to His Father's house to prepare a place for her, so that He may live with her forever. This union will be preceded by the celebration of the marriage supper of the lamb that will be done in heaven (Rev.19:9). This is what awaits now. So journey together with me in this book to see how this Great Mystery reveals not only the beginning of God's dealing with man, but also the end of it
