Sandra Hollingsworth is the owner of a log cabin nestled in the woods of Biloxi, Mississippi, built by her great great great grandfather Zacharia Coleman Allen. Passed down through the generations, it was preserved as a historical landmark and up until recently had been profitable. Then it fell into disarray just before Sandra's husband (Richard) and son (Tommy) came back from the Army and the Marines, respectively. Both lieutenants, they fought valiantly and received service medals. However, controversy was brewing as just before the war ended, Richard had one of his medals revoked due to suspicion that during a battle, he was actually on the wrong side of the county line and thus couldn't have taken part in the battle which gave his unit a decisive victory. It would be hotly contested and caused bad blood between the Army and the Marines. Thus pitting son and father against each other just as they were returning home with other physical and psychological wounds. A moving story filled with painful, yet hopeful moments. And to add to the drama, there is a suspenseful tone as the main character, Sandra is telling the story from the other side of the grave in hopes of getting someone to find a missing quilt and get it admitted into the library of Congress to seal her family's name amongst the greats. Tommy can see her, but Richard can't - exacerbating the frustration and forcing her to escalate her attempts. In doing so, the log cabin loses its historical preservation status and she uses the energy of the fireplace and electric circuits to inhabit a corner of the now haunted cabin.
