In The Love Of Texas is the story of Toombs Sullivan not only loving Texas, but also Josephine Wells. He decides it would not be fair for him to remain a Texas Ranger and be married to her. So he leaves the Rangers and becomes a Deputy in Fort Worth. When they get married, Josephine sells her ranch and together they buy a large house in town.
Sullivan sets out to be a good Deputy in Fort Worth. He still faces difficult situations with killers, drunks, and cowboys returning from cattle drives who want to blow off steam there in town.
Life takes another turn, when Josephine becomes pregnant. She and Sullivan begin to prepare to make a home for their baby.
But Sullivan has made too many enemies as a Ranger, has killed too many people, brought too many to justice. Unknown to him, there is somebody who wants to get even. There is danger lurking in the dark.
