Due giullari, Pulcinella ed Arlecchino, arrivano al castello del Re Federico I e scoprono che il conte Apaticus ha rinchiuso tutti gli abitanti del regno nelle cinque torri del Palazzo e con essi anche un'emozione diversa. Nascosti dietro una tenda, sentono che entro mezzanotte tutti saranno trasformati in statue di sale se non liberati a tempo.
I due, eludendo i controlli del conte e dei suoi scagnozzi, arrivano alle torri e scoprono che nessuno degli abitanti vuole lasciare la propria prigione perché oramai legati ad una sola emozione.
L'arduo compito di Pulcinella ed Arlecchino sarà proprio quello di far capire che occorre equilibrio tra le emozioni per vivere nel modo giusto.
