Tivoli Magica. Tra Sibilla ed Ercole - Il Sacro e il Mito
Nel cuore del Medioevo cristiano, quando la memoria della Sibilla sembrava ormai confinata alle pagine scolorite dei testi latini, accadde qualcosa di straordinario: la sua voce tornò a parlare, ma questa volta in relazione al Cristo. Il racconto, tramandato da fonti medievali e rinascimentali, narra che Ottaviano Augusto, in procinto di ricevere il titolo di divinizzato, si recò a Tivoli per consultare l'oracolo della Sibilla. Lì, presso il tempio e la fonte di Albunea, accadde qualcosa che avrebbe segnato la memoria religiosa dell'Occidente.
Secondo la leggenda riportata nel Liber de Oraculis Sibyllinis (Migne 1850) e in numerosi testi cristiani tardoantichi e altomedievali, Ottaviano Augusto volle interrogare gli dèi circa la possibilità di essere accolto tra gli dei del Pantheon. Ma la Sibilla Tiburtina, interpellata sull'argomento, ebbe una visione profetica che mutò il corso del responso. Indicò il cielo e disse: Hic puer major te est: adora eum.(Ecco il fanciullo che è più grande di te: adoralo.)
Tivoli è una città dalla storia millenaria, in cui il confine tra leggenda, mito e realtà si intreccia con la vita quotidiana, le acque, i templi e le tradizioni.
