The Last of the Mohicans is a historical novel written by James Fenimore Cooper and published in 1826. Set in the 1750s during the French and Indian War, the novel tells the story of two sisters, Cora and Alice Munro, and their journey through the wilderness of upstate New York with their guide, a white man named Hawkeye, and his two Native American companions, Chingachgook and his son Uncas, who are the last of the Mohican tribe. Along the way, they encounter various dangers, including hostile Native American tribes, French soldiers, and treacherous terrain. The novel explores themes of race, identity, and the clash of cultures during this pivotal time in American history. It is considered a classic of American literature and has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and other works of art.he moved silently by the group of travelers, accompanied by the Mohicans, who seemed to comprehend his intentions with instinctive readiness, when the whole three disappeared in succession, seeming to vanish against the dark face of a perpendicular rock that rose to the height of a few yards, within as many feet of the water's edge. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
