The Last of the Mohicans is a historical novel by James Fenimore Cooper, first published in 1826. The story is set in the 1750s during the French and Indian War, and follows the journey of Nathaniel Natty Bumppo, a white man raised by Native Americans, and his companions as they try to rescue two young women from hostile Native American tribes and the French army. The novel explores themes of race, identity, and the clash of cultures during this period of American history. The Last of the Mohicans is widely considered a classic of American literature and has been adapted into numerous films, plays, and other media.he moved silently by the group of travelers, accompanied by the Mohicans, who seemed to comprehend his intentions with instinctive readiness, when the whole three disappeared in succession, seeming to vanish against the dark face of a perpendicular rock that rose to the height of a few yards, within as many feet of the water's edge. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
