Before the Cuban Revolution reshaped the island, young Milagros accompanied her parents to elegant parties at Havana's famed Hotel Nacional, mesmerized by the glamour of musicians and performers. Music quickly became her destiny.

During her travels, Milagros falls deeply in love with a man from Czechoslovakia. Yet the political reality of the time forces an impossible choice: follow the man she loves or remain with the parents who depend on her.
In choosing family, she sacrifices the love of her life.
Still, the music must go on.
As years pass and separation grows, Milagros continues to play, holding onto the fragile hope that one day she might reconnect with the love she left behind.
