Obesity is currently one of the biggest public health problems in several countries, including Brazil. Responsible for numerous deaths and morbid conditions, obesity is linked to several other morbid conditions, which greatly increases the need to understand it. It is now known that obesity is a multifactorial disease, as it involves both genetic and environmental components. Based on a review of the literature and scientific experimentation, this study points out how some environmental events can increase individuals' susceptibility to weight gain, leading to obesity, as well as negatively altering some health parameters, regardless of genetic patterns.
