Haddon Hall is a three-act light English opera written by Sydney Grundy and first performed in 1892. The plot is set in the Elizabethan era and follows the story of Dorothy Vernon, the daughter of Sir George Vernon, who falls in love with John Manners, the nephew of the Earl of Rutland. However, Sir George disapproves of the match and tries to arrange a marriage between Dorothy and his friend, Sir Geoffrey Vernon. The story unfolds with a series of twists and turns, including secret meetings, mistaken identities, and a duel. The opera features a score by Arthur Sullivan, who is best known for his collaborations with W.S. Gilbert on the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas. Haddon Hall was well-received by audiences and critics alike and remains a popular work in the light opera repertoire. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
