Born in Birmingham, Alabama; the seventh child of ten children. Moved to Brooklyn, New York where she married and began her career. Moved to Long Island, New York where she raised her three daughters and son. Received her undergraduate degree from New York Institute of Technology and her Master's degree in education from Hofstra University. Taught elementary, junior and senior high school, adult education and college courses in New York, Maryland, Washington (DC), and Pennsylvania.
