A Segunda Guerra Mundial na Ásia (também chamada de Guerra do Pacífico, (e) Guerra do Pacífico) foi travada na Ásia Oriental e no Oceano Pacífico entre o Império Japonês e uma coalizão de Aliados, os mais importantes dos quais foram os Estados Unidos, a China e (a partir de agosto de 1945) a União Soviética.
Os primeiros passos foram dados no século XIX, quando o exército japonês ocupou as ilhas ao sul do continente, incluindo Okinawa. Na Primeira Guerra sino-japonesa (1894-1895), Formosa (Taiwan) e Coréia foram tiradas da China e anexadas ao Japão, e na Guerra Russo-Japonesa (1904-1905), os russos perderam sua base naval em Port Arthur para os japoneses, que assim ganharam efetivamente o controle do Mar Amarelo. Na Primeira Guerra Mundial, os japoneses capturaram grande parte do império colonial alemão na Ásia, incluindo as Ilhas Marianas, as Ilhas Marshall e as Ilhas Gilberts.
