Recovering degraded areas is a process that requires qualified techniques, made up of several stages that must be developed together in order to re-establish the potential quality of the soil according to its proposed functions. At the beginning of this decade, the process of soil degradation in the southern region of the state of Piauí took on special importance due to the intense and accelerated development of agribusiness. The main degraded environmental area in the process of desertification, caused mainly by the extraction of minerals associated with the natural vulnerability of the soil, has Gilbués as its central municipality. Consisting of seven municipalities, given the overwhelming picture of this process, resulting from the actions of man and nature, it is possible that if no action is taken in time, the town of Gilbués will disappear in the near future. It is necessary to define easy-to-acquire measures to enable a possible recovery of this environment. In this context, this work aims to publicise a proposal to help in the process of recovering this degraded area.
