The fact that relatively older players in a given age group are overrepresented compared to relatively younger players in the same age group is a ubiquitous phenomenon in football. In children's football, too, it is noticeable that relatively older players are preferred. This study set out to examine the relative age effect in children's football in more detail and also to investigate the influence of biological development on the relative age effect.
