Thoughts From Heaven Devotional is written from a perspective and hope of encouraging the reader to foster and continue develop a mature relationship with Lord Jesus Christ. It is my hope that reader will become a spiritual mature Christian that let his/her life be a beacon of light to draw all people to Jesus Christ. The Scripture states, Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. (Matthew 5:14-15) Through understanding and grasping the principles of God's word, a born-again baptized believer can and will become a light in the midst of dark and certain world.
Dr. Travis S. Holmes is a native of Charleston, South Carolina. He is the youngest of three siblings, and beloved son of Missionary Rose Ella Holmes and the late Franklyn Holmes. Dr. Holmes is married to Carol R. Johnson-Holmes and they have three children: Tylah, Denzel, and Zynia.
Dr. Holmes was educated in the public schools in Charleston and Berkeley Counties in South Carolina. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1993. He furthered his education at Morris College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation administration in 1999. He also is a graduate of Christian Life School of Theology where he received his Bachelor of Theology in 2001, Master of Theology in 2004, and Master of Divinity in 2007. He received a Master of arts in professional counseling from South University in 2009, undertook further studies at Webster University, Argosy University, Walden University, and received a Doctor of Divinity from St. Luke Evangelical School of Studies in 2009.
Dr. Holmes has been preaching for 30 years, pastoring for a total of 20 years, and served in my capacity outside of ministry as professional counselor, political consultant, and community organizer. He spends most of his time helping and encouraging others to be the best they can be. Dr. Holmes' philosophy in life is, If you see the need, you have heard the call.
