INTRODUCTION:
New York State has much to offer the traveler that is looking for an interesting vacation that is full of fun, Native American and Military history, hands-on activities, and a variety of places to visit. The history of the Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, and I-90 region dates back thousands of years. There are all sorts of battlegrounds, forts, Native American museums and adventures, pioneer locations, gristmills, inns & residences that date in the 1700 and 1800s. This many includes over 100-pages of places you can visit. LOTS TO DO:
New York State has much to offer the traveler that is looking for an interesting vacation that is full of fun, Native American and Military history, hands-on activities, and a variety of places to visit. Your stay in the region can be from a few days to dozens of weeks, there are hundreds of attractions to visit that range from beaches and caves to lighthouses and waterfalls. Check the Table of Contents and you shall get an idea of the types of attractions that await your visit. This touring guide not only provides you with places to visit, but also with places to camp, via tent or RV; places to book tours; and parks that will please. There are forts, museums, railroads, canal locks, historic buildings, farms, halls of fame, and much more. NINETEEN CHAPTERS:
Each represents a specific activity and each has information on the places that can be used for mapping your travels. ALASKA:
Steward's Folly as an 1867 mistake that caused much laughter in our government, that is until 1898 when Gold was discovered in Alaska. New York State had a lot to do with this, as shown in this guidebook. CAMPING & RV'ing:
The guide includes the names, addresses, and GPS for over 10-pages of campgrounds and RV parks. ERIE CANAL:
The original Erie Canal is mostly gone, but there are many segments of it and the new canal that you can visit, including all the 'Locks' that were built that still remain. The guidebook includes the locations 19-pages of locations, addresses, GPS of the parking areas for viewing parts of the canal, museums that feature the canal, and locks that are on the canal. Native Americans in New York State have the right to open, own, and operate gambling hall casinos, and 9 are listed in this tour guide HIKING TRAILS:

The Underground Rail Road was started here, the rights for women to Vote were started here, and some of the best telescope mirrors were made here. NATIVE AMERICA:
Appendix II has a listing of past and current Native American tribes that settled in the area and contributed much to the success of the region. RAILROADS:
Once the canals were built the pioneers decided that it would be wise to build better and faster transportation for their products, and thus many railroads were constructed. You can get to see, visit, or ride on many of these. Some 20+ RR attractions are included. STATE PARKS:
